VINCENT PETIT
DVM – PhD – Co-founder & CEO

Vincent is a co-founder and CEO of METAFORA. He worked on the incubation phase of the company, both on basic science, translational research and company incorporation. He is building up the company as to make it deliver innovative solutions to fulfill medical unmet needs. He enjoys most bringing a scientific discovery or innovation to the service of patients and medicine, and finding the paths to bring these discoveries to their industrial completion.Vincent is Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the National Veterinary School of Alfort (France), which he completed by a PhD in cell biology and microbiology from the Pasteur Institute and the Paris University (Université Denis Diderot – Paris VII, France).

After working on anti-viral host factors, he joined the CNRS (Montpellier, France) as a translational research officer. Vincent has authored 8 original scientific publications and is the co-inventor on 5 patents.

Luc is co-founder of Metafora and head of  its Strategic Advisory Board. He has dedicated his career to science and the bringing of novel advancements to market applications. Thus, Luc is the co-founder of two IPOed biotech companies: Genset, listed on Nasdaq and Euronext before its acquisition by Serono in 2001; and METabolic EXplorer (France) listed on Euronext. He also co-founded Genopole® Evry (the leading French biotechnology park).

Luc has also served as expert reviewer for FP6 calls of the European Commission, and was a member of the Jury for the Altran Foundation for Innovation Award.

He holds a PhD (General Human Biology – Cellular & Molecular Biology) from the Saint-Louis Hospital (Paris University – Paris Denis Diderot), with a specialization in molecular virology. He is the author of 60 scientific publications and 4 patents.

Romain is Metafora’s general manager and CFO. He is responsible of the financials, and as a key member of the management, he is highly involved in the daily operations of the company. He also actively participates in the definition of Metafora’s development strategy.

Romain  is a seasoned professional with 10 years of experience in corporate finance and M&A. Before joining Metafora, he was the CFO of Laser, an international CRO (London). Before his London experience, Romain was working in the M&A practice of Grant Thornton (Paris).

Romain holds an MBA from Oxford University, a MSc from Bordeaux Management school and a Master degree in Biochemistry from the Paris University.

Marc is the co-founder of Metafora and heads its Scientific Advisory Board. He is a leading expert in the field of retrovirus envelopes and their cell receptors, as well as in nutrient transporters and cell metabolism.
Marc was Research Director at INSERM, from 1995 to 2022 and led a group at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Montpellier (IGMM; CNRS & University of Montpellier – France). Marc was also associated with several prestigious research institutes in Paris, San Diego and Bethesda, and served in several scientific councils in French public-sector organizations (CNRS, ANRS) and non-governmental organizations (Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale). Marc also consulted for several pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and served as a reviewer for major international institutes and grant-funding organizations.
Marc holds a PhD in Virology, Oncology and Immunology from the Paris University (Université Denis Diderot – Paris VII, France). He is the author of over 90 scientific publications and inventor on several patents. Among numerous discoveries covering virology, hemato-oncology and cellular metabolism, his group identified GLUT1 as the receptor for the Human T-cell Leukemia Virus (HTLV), discovered the first human phosphate exporter, which is associated with brain calcification, and discovered several nutrient transporters as retroviral receptors.

SANDRA MORICEAU

Sandra is our Chief of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, and as such she is in charge of ensuring the compliance of development, production and commercialization of our products. Her responsibilities also include the implementation, improvement and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS). She has been instrumental in getting our first CE-marked IVD test and shaped the QMS of the company to be ISO 13485:2016 certified.

Sandra holds an Engineering degree from the EPHE-Paris Sciences Lettres, specializing in Biomedical Research and Immunology, and a Diploma in Quality Health and Safety Environment (IFOCOP), which allowed her to leverage her dual professional experience in biology and quality management, both in the academics and private sectors.

KAMILA CZECHOWSKA

We are all excited to see Kamila joining the Metafora family to drive diagnostic product developments. Kamila is our liaison between business and development teams, helping us delivering products that most accurately address customers’ demands. She is responsible for guiding and managing the solution development process and ensures that the product team fully apprehends the direction and vision that is behind each development.

Kamila obtained her PhD at the University de Lausanne, Switzerland, on microbial cytometry, after a M.Sc. in Applied Biotechnology from the University of Krakow, Poland. During her postdoctoral stay at the Yale School of Medicine, mentored by Dr. Barbara Kazmierczak, she discovered a “social cheating” phenomenon that provides a new insight into the dynamics of P. aeruginosa colonization in CF lungs.

Kamila has experience in design, execution and audit of clinical trials for top-5 pharma companies on behalf of a global CRO, as well as experience in medical device development for a startup company. She is a flow cytometry expert and holds active responsibilities in cytometric societies. She previously published in the field of cytometry applied to microbial stress responses, host-pathogen interactions, and worked for/organized/supervised standardization in multi-site clinical studies. Kamila also served as Associate Editor for special issues of Cytometry Part A, reporting on CYTO conferences.

Dominique is Chief R&D Officer, and is excited to make METAFORA’s technology into innovative and successful products that will allow clinicians and scientists to accurately monitor cell metabolism with the goal to improve patients’ lives. His daily ambition is to foster interactions between biology, technology and data science teams to promote innovation and deliver efficient solutions for precision medicine.
He holds a PhD in Immunology from University Paris Saclay, and developed his career at the intersection of Immunology and Oncology.
Dominique has 20 years of experience in the Pharma Biotech sector, translating early scientific discoveries into innovative products. Starting as a post-doc at DNAX Research Institute (USA), his experience in translational research development brought him to Exelixis (USA), Genentech (USA), and Cellectis (FR). He was Director of Immunology at Avacta (UK), before he accepted to bring his experience to Metafora.

BAPTISTE LABARTHE

Baptiste is leading the data science team at Metafora. His role is central in data analytics solutions that allow a multidisciplinary dialogue between biologists and clinical scientists. The tools that his team develop allow Metafora to provide innovative accurate medical diagnoses.
Baptiste holds a PhD in computer science and geostatistics from Mines Paristech. Among his numerous achievements are the development of a surface water/groundwater flow modelling software still used in routine basis at Mines Paristech lab, and the application of geostatistics and AI into an optimization procedure for large-scale models (several millions of computational cells).
He has 3+ years of experience as data scientist in the Pronostics and Health Management department at Alstom, where he developed a SaaS for predictive maintenance. He managed projects for Research and Development programs, including collaborations with international research labs (Inria, CALCE, Ryenrson).

Being the Global Medical Manager, Josep is a key medical expert focused on engagement with healthcare providers to provide scientific education on METAglut1.

He is also responsible for identifying the best suited specialty lab partners locally to offer our innovative test to the market.

Josep has been working for the last 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, mainly in the medical and marketing departments.

He has worked across many therapy areas and he has been responsible for a number of global launches.

Josep has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Barcelona.

He also holds an interuniversity MBA degree from the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Polytechnic University of Catalunya.
